For my own personal Christmas Gift, I got a Barnes & Noble Nook for $100 on Cyber Monday. I was quite happy with my purchase, and told my parents for Christmas to get me a cover for my nook (i'm absolutely clumsy with my crap, I'll screenshot my phone for obvious reasons why I needed a cover for my nook).
The first cover was absolutely awesome, it was this dingy lime Green with the quote "One must pick an author as one picks a best friend" I can't recall really who the quote was from, but I loved it nonetheless. Anyway, I realized that my new cover was for the NookColor! not the NookWifi that I purchased. So my parents and I hitch a ride to the local Barnes & Noble, and I find the one thing that could make my world so happy, a Nook cover with an Ampersand on it!
For those who don't know, Ampersand is a song by the ever glorious Amanda Fucking Palmer, and once I saw this cover I instantly had to have it. It also sweetened the deal with a question mark on the back of the cover (My sister saw it, and instantly flipped the cover upside down and yelled "¿Como?").
Anyway, in a process of personal customization of not only my nook but also my cover, I wrote the specific lyrics to Ampersand inside the binding of the cover:
I may be romantic,
I may risk my life for it,
But I ain't gonna die for you,
You know I ain't no Juliet,
And I'm not gonna watch you,
While you burn yourself out baby,
No, I'm not gonna stop you,
Cause I'm not the one thats crazy.
These specific lines in the song have always hit something deep inside me every time I hear them. I tend to always second guess myself, look at my life as if I'm a complete screw up (to the most part I am, but I should live and let live instead of internalizing the problems) and these lines help me realize, that sometimes it really is not me, but them.
The last image in the series is the wallpaper I made for my nook, after this I"m going to check the brush provider's page to make sure I can let people, especially the AFP Nook owning fans a way of obtaining this lovely cover.
