Putting the Pieces Together

This was created for the Paper Heart Movie Poster Contest.

Ok so this took me a while. I personally crushed all the papers that were used in this image. Total pieces of scrap booking paper used: 12 just for color, then blended together for a more cohesive look, and for a 3d effect with some shading. I had fun doing this project, because I was able to work with my hands in making interesting textures with paper (While rocking out to the Dresden Dolls).

Anyway, the hand is mine, and I know it looks yellow, but I wanted it to look fake, like something from a Stop-motion film...or the look I was going for.

This piece is basically from personal experiences with love. You have to put the pieces together to find out what love is. Sometimes, some people's reasons aren't noble or practical, but may be diabolical. If you read the full view, the heart starts with good reasons as to what love is, but the farther you go down, the reasons become more superficial, and smaller until love just becomes unreal, it's so far away from the "happier" feelings that love seems unreal, unreachable. The papers are colored the same because you may never know what you may be feeling...you could be feeling love, but it could be lust.

The hand is pointing to the unreal piece of paper, because that is what the girl in the movie (or to my interpretation) is feeling about love.

The Yellow paper in the background was of personal preference, not only does it bring out the colors, but I like yellow notebook paper, its not boring.
